BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS APP. It does create backups, but it is unreliable. My backups vary randomly from 300MB to 500MB even though I don't delete messages. The 300MB backups have random messages missing. Also, it doesn't seem to honor its own local storage limit option (I set 3GB hoping it stores a few local copies, but it doesn't.) An app like this should be "set and forget", but you'll get a nasty surprise when you go to restore a partial backup. Silent backup failures are infuriating.

What I have experienced using this app is rather archaic when it comes to software. It doesn't return resources. It also crashes. It continues to increase in size to the point where it is the largest entity on my device. Currently, with data it stands at 65.8 GB, far larger than the total incremental backups stored in my cloud. I find it far too excessive, and appears to be because it does not return storage used after completion. It can't possibly be considered efficient with such a footprint.

Thank you so much for this app. I just got a new phone and for whatever reason Google backup didn't transfer my text messages. I was pulling my hair out trying to fix it! Gaaaah. Anyway, I couldn't get it to connect the new phone to my old phone so I just used the upload to Drive feature and that worked seamlessly. It was pretty intuitive too. Great simple app!

The Verizon content transfer app usually does everything for me, but it could not transfer my text messages for me. I tried twice. I tried backing them up to Google's cloud service from the old phone twice and that did nothing. I was getting really upset looking for a solution. I was skeptical of this app at first. A few times a step failed and I had to start again. It took a few hours in total to transfer my messages, but I have more than 70,000 so that's understandable. I'm so relieved. No ads

AMAZING APP!!!!! I was having a huge issue trying to convert messages to another phone when I got a new phone, and I was struggling for hours, and then I read a Reddit post about this app and thought I'd give it one final shot. AND IT DID NOT Disappoint. The download time wasn't even lengthy and only took about an hour and a half to convert 100,000 messages into the backup, and then another hour and a half to actually restore the messages on the new phone. 100% worth it though and was worth it.

I have had this app a handful of years and it has never let me down. The only trouble I ever have is trying to read the saved text messages after transferring them to my computer. It ends up all jumbled and very hard to read, but I think it's some sort of file type issue that's fixable. Because of that issue I did check out a couple other SMS backup apps, but they wanted fees, very un-user friendly apps without having the ability to backup to a external USB storage. I'm not doing that again.
