Around the time this game got first released, it was pretty solid. Very fun, very addicting, and it still can be somewhat. This might come off as a personal rant but the fun was starting to be taken out the moment they did server merges, to play for a while and be part of the top 10 only to drop to the top 400 is very disheartening, and even if you attempt to start over on another server, nowadays you just have massive groups of friends/cheaters just in the same server either sharing info despite being on separate teams and waving a credit card to instantly be in the top 100. Tl;dr, don't play this game without friends and on the free-to-play route because this game is hardcore pay-to-win.

While the initial concept of separating players into "countries/regions" might be intriguing the actual gameplay system and mechanics, however, can turn out to be a bore. On top of this after extended gameplay, it becomes more or less a world of "how well can you play" over "how much can you spend". In fact this system lavishly encourages spending and at some points makes progress nigh impossible without vast expenditures of money.

it was fun, easy and cheap at the beginning. it started with $1 for Patron. then 14.99 for permanent. after that, everything is expensive. they advertise hundreds of percentage in savings, but that's bad marketing. put aside the cost, leveling up is hard without spending money. I mean, you have to fight repetitive battles for hours to level up. also, the upgrades seems to be limit less. it is a pointless game after a few days. keep the money, but you can take more of my time.

The first thing to pop up upon launching the game for the first time was a $9.99 Beginner's Bundle. I uninstalled immediately without playing any further. Edit: The dev responded (see below) stating that the boost was optional and to help the player. The thing is, if a dev is hitting you up for $9.99 instantly, before you're even invested in the game, you better believe that they will try to soak hundreds out of you if you keep playing. The rating remains the same.

So after a year of playing this game is pretty cool. It is in fact very much a pay to win game, like possibly the worst. If you are America it is even worse. I have spent roughly 1k over the last year and a half and I am not close to top in my server. What's worse is they put out a new event on Christmas, you would think hey maybe I get something but no. Just spend a ton more cash for minimal prizes. It is a fun game but unless you literally spend multiple thousands of dollars you lose.

Is it pay to win? You bet it is. Is it grindy otherwise? Of course. Are there hints of racism and misunderstandings? At least in the server I play on. Then why bother at all? Because it's fun, to the point that I don't even mind spending a little of my hard earned cash on it. The graphics are easy on the eyes and the game play is strategic. Honestly if it didn't have such a great system where I could place all my units in various formations, I wouldn't even touch it.
