I've been on and off this app for a few years, but it's the best I've found for general astronomy. The upgrades are expensive, so it might be worth it to go for the full app once you see you like the free version. The older version used to let you jump from sky view right to exploratory mode, and you can't get the Latin names for constellations any more, which is how I know most of them. Still, I've shown plenty of friends the star chart, and it helps everyone understand.

Great for identifying constellations, stars, and planets. Much better than the glow in the cards. Edit for latest version. The estimated location is off by thousands of miles, but you cannot fix it. There is only an "OK" button, and the settings page doesn't take city name, state, country, or latitude, longitude in standard format. There is no tutorial for this.

This was one of the OGs and was one of if not the best on android and ios. I bought all the in app purchases for the different celestial bodies and it was worth every cent. Now it looks like it has t been updated in years and I haven't even been able to launch it on either my galaxy flip 3 or my s23 ultra. If the (I think it was free?) base app works for you then awesome, but I wouldn't spend any money on it until they update it to properly support current devices.

For a few years this was the most phenomenal app with depth, accuracy, and tracking. It constantly exceeded expectations. I fear the creators may have gone broke because as others are writing, the app no longer works. I too uninstalled the app and reloaded it in the app store but although the opening page loads, it doesn't get beyond that and then disappears. I'm betting that they couldn't keep good developers with low ad revenue.

The app works great. My only problem with it is that when I activate night mode, the menu buttons within the app don't go into night mode. The menu bar alone is enough to ruin your night vision. The soft keys also need to disappear when using this app. Once these problems are fixed I will give the app five stars. Not being able to use a stargazing app at night is enough for me to give it two stars. Edit: It seems the issue has been fixed work m within Android itself. 5 stars!

I discovered this app many years ago, then got a series of phones that (I learned after buying them) didn't have compass or gyroscope. The app was still useful, but this time I made sure I had a phone that let me use this app. It's so nice to be able to use it to its full potential again! I absolutely love being able to point my phone at a star and know it instantly. Where I live now, not many stars make it through the city lights, so it's a precious gift to know which is which.
