The app works well. It can be a bit hard to get it to connect locally when using network storage. The app doesn't have network capabilities that are easy to use. Feb 8, 2020 After using the app for several years now, I'm satisfied with the features. But, the interface of the smartphone app is looking just a bit dated. Also, there is no support for Google Docs / Sheets / Slides files as is for Microsoft Office files. This is a drawback.

Great product. It just works. I use on multiple Windows 10 machines (heterogeneous hardware) and android LG G8ThinQ. I have paid for the annual subscription because it gives piece of mind to store everything on the cloud. Hint: get a password manager such as keepass and store it encrypted through boxcryptor on cloud storage. Now you always have access to your passwords and the file is always up-to-date. Your passwords are now double encrypted with zero hassle.

I was happy with Boxcryptor for as long as it worked. I saved my password on my password manager app, I used the app successfully until several months ago when it simply started giving the error of wrong password. Then they announced that my account will be deleted. Luckily, I didn't put all my eggs in their basket. If you trust this company with your most sensitive files, be prepared to lose them at their discretion.

Whilst I praised this app originally I have to say the latest version is a backwards step in terms of usability. Lost the ability to mark individual files as favourites (now only folders), doesn't seem to clear its cache properly on exit, every time a text file is opened its shown in a built-in viewer means not my previously selected editor (Jota), so it's less than straightforward to edit a file, uploading a file seems to use a different encryption method than the Windows version uses.

Update: camera upload is working now, nice! However, only for the main camera roll. Other apps like OneDrive allow you to select other folders to be included for automatic photo upload. Maybe I should clarify that I suggest being able to pick one or more folders on my phone (!) for camera upload. Being able to pick where those photos are uploaded to in my Boxcryptor drive would be a nice feature, too, but less important to me.

Boxcryptor Personal has given me peace of mind for well over a decade, but they sold out to DropBox who will only offer the encryption in their business subscriptions. Consequently, I have to risk all my data and personal security while I decrypt all my files to a new drive, or lose it all when Boxcryptor locks everything for ever. I have not found anything that provides the level of security, remote access, and price in one simple package. 5 Stars for what they were. ZERO for their future.
