This review has been changed from 5 stars due to a change in the platform. I am a PAYING subscriber. And I don't even have the lowest tier available. So you WILL be removing the forced ad at the beginning of every new episode I watch. I don't pay for Crunchyroll WITH ads, so stop showing them. Period. I will also be reimbursed for the last few months of being given Crunchyroll with ads. Edit: I do not care what you call them, an ad is an ad. and it breaks the ad free experience I PAY for.

Solely looking at the app's performance, it is fine. I've never had it buffer on me or anything. Biggest gripe is that when you download episodes to watch offline, it'll download in the default language you want it to, and to use the non-default you have to click "Change preferences", which is fine but you have to do this per episode, rather than once for a show and from then on it would remember that; which I'd prefer.

I pay for premium yet I still get what I would consider ads. I get trailers/short videos of random animes when I start an episode, while its able to be skipped right away its still irritating. Edit. while it is showing only things on Crunchyroll its still an ad (proved by the googke ads service) , and therefore shouldn't show up for those who pay for ad-free viewing. simply add a option for premium users to turn off the trailers and my review will go up.

in app error left me unable to use app. I am repeatedly receiving an error message, aswell as a message to check my internet connection. I feel as though I've jumped through all of the hoops all to no avail. I've checked my internet connection, I've tested my connection,Uninstalled/ reinstalled, cleared cache data, reset my router. I'm still able to stream on other apps WHILE simultaneously gaming. But even when the only app running in this house is crunchyroll, the app will not function. 1 star

Crunchyroll feels its above the literal definitions used in the english language and decided to redefine ads as "third party content" so it can still spam you with as many ads as it feels like. "advertisements" or "ads" for short, are still ads if it pops up in front of my screen and blocks my content I pay for. You are no authority over the english language. no ads means no ads. stop forcing your own ads. otherwise I can't watch anything you advertise on your site, because I wont accept that.

It's really hard giving up on crunchyroll, mostly because of the convenience it provides through monopoly. But for $12 a month for an ad free experience. Yet I still get ads in the app. They removed the comment section so now there is no sense of community. They laid off employees to use poorly translated subtitles by AI. The new company they switched to had incorrect translations and inconsistent formatting. Finally, new episodes aren't always shown, or they are nameless. + App lags when watchi
